Interarts Foundation, Barcelona (2009 -2010)

The Interarts Foundation, with support from the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AECID) and the collaboration of the European Centre for Cultural Organisation and Management (ECCOM), carried out a project aimed at analysing tax measures currently being applied to the cultural sector in Latin American countries. The goal of this analysis was to facilitate the harmonisation of these measures, a necessary step in the framework of ongoing regional integration and trade liberalisation developments, promoting the international competitiveness of cultural industries in the region.

The project has been co-ordinated by Michele Trimarchi; members of the working group were Lorena Blasco, Serena Azucena, Sara Hevia and Maria Laura Vergelli.

European Museums and Young People. A critical Enquiry
PDF Print E-mail

UE-Lifelong Learning Programme (2007-2009)

The project aimed at promoting studies and researches and at comparing and experimenting new activities and good practices in the field of museum art education projects addressed to young people (from 16 onwards).

The main concept underpinning the whole project is that museums – especially contemporary art ones – are privileged places to start learning processes addressed to young people. Museums are places where it is easier to acquire competences related for example to communication and team work, since they are not submitted to the same rules and limitations of schools and universities. Furthermore, contemporary art – approaching provoking and controversial issues – can help young people in under standing contemporary society and culture, promoting at the same time active citizenship and intercultural dialogue.

UE-Lifelong Learning Programme (2007-2009)

Volunteers for Cultural Heritage was a European project, funded by the European Commission in Brussels as part of the Grundtvig Lifelong Learning Programme. The project started out by acknowledging the increasing importance of the voluntary sector for preserving cultural heritage and running cultural institutions, such as museums.

It has explored this phenomenon at European level, identifying different types of voluntary work and the areas of activity in which cultural volunteers are engaged, with the objective of designing training addressed both to volunteers themselves and to the people responsible for volunteer programmes within cultural organisations. The project took place from November 2007 until October 2009.

LLML- Lifelong Museum Learning
PDF Print E-mail
UE - Socrates Grundtvig (2007)

The LLML project, funded within the framework of the Socrates-Grundtvig Programme, addressed museum educators/cultural mediators in charge of adult education in museums or wanting to develop programmes addressed to adults in and with museums.

It aimed at designing, delivering and disseminating training and didactic material to support museum educators facing a new challenge in their work.

LLML offered museum practitioners the opportunity to develop the skills to deal with underrepresented segments of the public in a European perspective while exchanging experiences with colleagues belonging to different countries and institutional frameworks. It also offered the general public, and in particular adults, a wider and more qualified access to the cultural heritage and to museums through educational offers tailored to their expectations and learning styles.

Final publication

"Lifelong Learning in Museums: a European Handbook", edited by K. Gibbs, M. Sani e J. Thompson, Ferrara, EDISAI 2007.
